Samsung isn't shy about releasing a tablet or two, but the Korean giant's positive this time around that its new flagship is the one that's better than Apple's.

Locked in a fierce battle for tablet supremecy, Samsung's strategy has more or less consisted of releasing every possible variation that any customer could possibly want.
This evening, the company announced its very latest device, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S with a range of impressive specs that should finally see off that pesky iPad Air once and for all.

Coming in two different sizes - 10.5-inch and 8.4-inch - the Galaxy Tab S is opting for screen quality and portability as its weapons of choice. Sammy says that the Super AMOLED screen on the Galaxy Tab S offers richer colours and deeper contrast for better viewing angles than other tablets.

It's also packing Adaptive Display technology that automatically adjusts colour saturation and sharpness based on ambient light - therefore obviously meriting capital letters.

The resolution in both models is an impressive 2,560 x 1,600 and Samsung boasts a contrast ratio of 100,000:1 - which is 100 x the ratio of a standard LCD screen.

Taking on Apple's iPad Air in the weight-loss department, the Galaxy Tab S measures a mere 6.6mm thick - the same thickness as a stack of five credit cards.

Although the 10.5-inch model tips the scales at 465g, the 8.4-inch model weighs in at 294g.

Despite the supermodel-size measurements, Samsung has packed the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 with a 1.9GHz Exynos 5 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. There's an 8MP shooter on the back and Android KitKat is the order of the day when it comes to the OS.

But enough of us spouting meaningless specifications at you, why not see how the Samsung Galaxy Tab S holds up in real life with our hands-on review delivered straight from the launch event in New York.
