Conference Overview

Organized by the Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB), with the support of the Ministry of Health and the Cyprus Medical Association, the Conference provides a unique platform for constructive and informed dialogue on the future of healthcare in Cyprus.

Almost seven years after the implementation of the General Health System (GHS), the healthcare sector has undergone significant structural changes and major investment, ushering in a new era of universal access for all citizens. Recognised as one of the most important social reforms in the country, the GHS continues to evolve, presenting both notable achievements and persistent challenges.

Against this backdrop, the Health Conference 2026 brings together the full spectrum of healthcare stakeholders to evaluate the system’s progress, address critical challenged, and explore practical opportunities to strengthen its long-term sustainability and effectiveness.

Objectives

The conference aims to:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the General Health System and the broader healthcare landscape in Cyprus.

  • Highlight challenges, opportunities, and lessons learned since the system’s implementation.

  • Examine international perspectives on healthcare system design, value, and sustainability.

  • Explore innovative approaches that can strengthen service quality, patient experience, and operational efficiency.

  • Facilitate open dialogue among all involved stakeholders to support a more resilient and forward-looking healthcare ecosystem.

Main Conference Themes

The Health Conference 2026 is structured around three key themes that reflect the most pressing priorities of Cyprus’ healthcare system.

Section A - The Effectiveness of Healthcare Systems

The session explores how health systems function in practice, drawing on years of real-world experience. It reviews the current structure of the system, the challenges encountered, and corrective measures already implemented in Cyprus and in other European health systems, while highlighting practical lessons Cyprus can adopt to strengthen performance, accountability and long-term stability.

Section B - Redefining Value in Healthcare: from Economic Sustainability to Patient Experience

The session shifts the focus to what “value” means in a modern health system—balancing clinical outcomes and patient experience. It examines how healthcare providers contribute to system performance, the evolving role of insurance, and the practical steps required to enhance quality and efficiency across the patient journey.

Section C - Health Governance in the AI Era: Cybersecurity, Mental Well-Being and Patient-Centred Care

The session examines the role of technological progress in enhancing service delivery and health system performance, showcasing how innovation can support a more responsive, interconnected, and future-ready healthcare system in Cyprus.

The conference is organized by the Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB), which plays a pivotal role in shaping the country’s healthcare landscape.
